As every Curly Girl knows, we are limited to hairstyles.
But what hair styles we have, we
need to master.
If you're a curly hair vet like me,
you probably already
have these under your belt.
If not, I have a few favorite go-to
styles that I want to share.
They're simple, cute and totally
appropriate for my fellow Curly Girls.
The Headband:
Whether your hair is up or down you neeeed to know how to style your hair with a headband.
It's one of the easiest ways to add something to an everyday style.
I love this because you can dress it up or down.

Braids:
They're so versatile.
Do a side fishtail (in picture), french,
or you can even do a few, small braids all over to create a boho vibe
while decreasing volume.
Curly Girl Top Knot:
By far the easiest and my go to style.
But this style can go from effortless and chic to a hot ass mess in a nanosecond.
In my version, I left a few wispy bangs because
I have a Tyra forehead and CANNOT have all of my hair pulled back.
Accessorize:
I really like hair accessories.
Bows, hats, headpieces, feathers and in this case, a necklace.
I like them all.
It can change any vibe to any outfit in a moment.
Simple and trendy.
What's not to love?
Oh, and here's a link of the products I use.
Hope these styles help give you ideas to switch up your everyday style.
Because we all know variety is the spice of life :)

Thank you for this post!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous hair! What products do you use? My hair is naturally curly and I've tried nearly everything but it is so dry and frizzy!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! I will link one of my older posts that lists what products I use
ReplyDeleteHow do you do the knot?
ReplyDeleteI just act like I'm doing a ponytail, then on the last loop, only pull hair half through. Twist the whole bun upside down and mess with it to your liking. Sometimes I use bobby pins to place curls where I want them. Pull a few strands to frame your face and you're done. Hope this helps, Niki!
DeleteYou mentioned in your older post that you cut your hair...while I have zero talent for that, what do you recommend I ask my hairdresser to do? I have a great hairdresser, but I feel like I get inconsistent results each time. BTW, I love your hair, I wish I could get my hair to look like that!
ReplyDeleteHey, Emely, def ask your hairdresser for for layers. The more layers in curly hair, the better shape and dimension it has.
DeleteOther than that, I'm not too sure. However, I found this
http://www.naturallycurly.com/topics/view/haircuts
and hopefully that will help!
Thanks for the post! I've been struggling to find adult styles that are cute.
ReplyDeleteHow in the world do you get your curls like they are in the first photo? I'm hispanic and no matter what i do, my hair looks like a combination of a frizzy mess, and dread locks unless i straighten it!
ReplyDeleteOn days that my hair is frizzy (like in that picture) I will use my curling wand to "encourage" curls. If you don't want to use heat, try SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie because that shit is incredible ;)
DeleteWhere do you finfind your neat headbands?
ReplyDeleteI usually go to Francesca's or Forever21 has cute ones for the low low
