Friday Five

Hope you had a fun and filling Thanksgiving.
A holiday dedicated to eating? You know we definitely did.

Buuut we hate turkey. I know. No turkey on Turkey Day?
 Blasphemy.
Instead, we made ham, bacon wrapped green beans, mashed potatoes,
homemade sausage stuffing and an apple dessert.
It was incredible.

I don’t mean to toot my own horn but… toot toot

Now that Thanksgiving is out the way, we can officially welcome Christmas.
HELL YES, BISHES.
Don’t be surprised if I sneak in a few holiday faves every week. Hehe.

I just can't help myself.
Or I can and choose not to. Whatevs.
Let’s get to the Friday five.

Favorite Work Out

It’s Jillian Michaels. It will werk you out.

Favorite Hair

Just...look

Favorite Flashback

If this doesn’t flood tween memories I don’t know what will.
Am I the only one who remembers the Aaron/Hilary/Lindsay triangle?
Aaron and Lindsay were in the wrong then and look what happened.
Karma is a real bitch. Remember that, kids.

Favorite Holiday Cards

I LOVE JULIE ANN ART. All of it. Everything.
I want it. Every holiday, birthday and anniversary card is perfection.
What's a Hallmark?

Favorite Laugh

My teen years in a nutshell.

Happy Black Friday!

A thankful bish.

This time last year, we were in New York.
I was away from my family, not working, and not living on our own.

This year, it's the complete opposite.

I could not be more thankful.
It took a lot for us to move back on a whim.
Not having any income for a month and a half was truly a struggle.
But I had faith that God would provide (which he did)
and I had faith that moving back was the right thing to do for us.

I have so much to be thankful for this year including my little babe who is happy and healthy.
My big babe who loves, provides and takes care of us.
My job, my health, my house, my fam and friends (didn't have those in NY either)
and being in a place where there is no snow! Although, it's supposed to snow this week.
WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?!

I'm thankful for the random, little things, too.
Like having a washer and dryer in the house. Props to people who don't.
I'm thankful that Bella has a big girl bed, she has more space and sleeps better.
I'm thankful for our one car, it gets us where we need to be.
I'm thankful for my job, even if it's nights, it's still money.

And most of all,
I am thankful for my salvation and Jesus for saving my wretched soul.
Because we all know how wretched it actually is.

Challenge: Tell everyone you are thankful for, that you are thankful for them.
But only if you're really thankful for them.
Nothing is worse than insincerity... especially on a holiday.

Happy Thanksgiving!

P.S can we please protest stores opening on Thanksgiving evening?!
I'm not into Black Friday but it just seems so...unethical.

Festive Friday Five

This blog is a judge free zone. I don’t judge you.
So please don’t judge me in the fact that I am doing a Friday Five without other posts between.
I HAD A CRAZY WEEK! I started a new job and I am trying to adjust.
Damn, being a working mother is tough.
Shout out to the moms who get shit done both at work and home.
With Thanksgiving next week, I thought it would be appropriate to have FESTIVE faves this week. Enjoy!

Favorite Flashback:

Obvi, had to have Charlie on the list.

Favorite  Skinny recipe:

Fauxtatoes are a skinny and simple version of mashed potatoes. Potatoes are high in cals and you don't have to chew them so it's easy to over indulge. I will admit, I don't go completely cauliflower. I add at least one potato to each head of cauliflower.

Favorite Table Setting:

If I were a Thanksgiving table, this would be me.

                                                           Favorite Festive Drink:

The ladies at A Beautiful Mess are so creative! A cranberry jello shot for Thanksgiving.
Duh, how did I not think of this before?!?

Favorite Kid’s Craft:

I love any excuse to get crafty. I absolutely love the idea of a grateful tree.
It gives children an opportunity to think about all of the things and people they have to be thankful for.

Happy Friday!
P.S most of my friends are coming back home for Thanksgiving and I am so so excited!
I cannot wait to reunite and act a fool.

Friday Five

TGIF. Really. I feel like this week just draaaaagged and I am so ready for the weekend.

 Favorite Nails:

I have been looooving matte polishes.
They come in so many different colors and I think the finish is ideal for this season.
Confession. This brand chips like a mofo so although I like the style I hate the formula.
Why do you fail me L’OREAL?
side note: I made the rings with this tutorial

Favorite Reminder:

Saw this and thought I’d share. We all know we’ve been here.

Favorite Little Thing:

It seems that it’s the little things that make a difference.
I love making the house festive for holidays but I don’t go all out for Thanksgiving.
I made this banner and added some flowers and a pumpkin.
Easy Peasy.

Favorite Flashback:

Zenon. Her style? Flawless. Her lingo? Life changing. Those one liners kill me
ONE sin minor and my life is a living black hole!

Favorite Laugh:

I literally LOL’d when I read this. Probably more than I should have.
 Is it even that funny?

Anyway, hope you have fabulous weekend!
We are celebrating one of our best friends’ birthday.
And they go hard. I can never hang.
I’ll really put in the effort this time.

Oops

I’ve been thinking about my post when Bella was going ape shit.
I really should be thankful. Thankful for me being able to be home with her.

Devon  slapped me into reality when he said he’d
rather have me feel guilty about spending too much time with her
than not spending enough.

Kid had a point.

Right now, I’m the biggest influence in her life and should be taking
complete advantage of that. Which I am.
It’s just sometimes, I forget.
I forget that once she starts, she will be in school for twelve years.
She’ll have plenty of time to have friends and socialize

Oh, she'll get socialized, all right. A little slice like her.
Name that movie.

So why am I rushing it?
I only have a little bit longer to spend my days with her.
And I’m trying my best to make them count.

Right now, she thinks I’m cool.
I can do an handstand on the wall, paint nails, and draw a giraffe.
Not to mention the fact that I make bacon for breakfast.
To her that’s amazing.

The day she goes to school is the day I will completely lose whatever cool I have left.

So until then, I will hang on to it.
With her beside me.

Thanksgiving Attire

I’m no fashion blogger so I won’t even entertain the idea of pictures of me “modeling” clothes.

It would be a joke. A very mean joke.

 Plus, it’s a huge production.
Props to the ladies who do it all the time but that shit isn’t for me.

Thank heaven for Polyvore.

I’ve come up with a few ideas for what to wear on Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is celebrated in so many ways so
I tried my best to provide an example fitting to most.

Casual is mostly my style. I am short but I love my flats.
I almost never wear heels. Or fancy things.
I had an interview earlier this week and was struggling to find something decent.

p.s I left out accessories because these looks are versatile and can go with any style.

This is my version of glam. It’s really not glam but it’s totally glam to me. Ha.
My style is very casual so this is way out of my comfort zone.

Hope this helps you stay fashionable on Thanksgiving.

Unless you’re like me,
who might stay in sweats and  tees all day.

Go ahead.

Judge me.

Friday Five

There is no way today is Friday!
 I refuse to believe!
As fast as this week went, it was fab.
It's probably a why I can’t believe it’s almost over.

My weekend is going to be pretty busy so
I’m trying to enjoy the calm before the storm.
Anyway, here are this week’s faves.

Favorite flashback:
 I love Matilda.
I never realized how sad of a movie it actually is.
Nevertheless, the movie is still a classic and celebrates a girl being smart. #cheers

Favorite  Combo:
This color combination is just perfection. It’s feminine, subtle yet glamorous.
This might be some inspo for Bella's room someday.
Just imagine. Gah, I would be in there more than her.

Favorite Reminder:

Lauren at The Skinny Confidential is one of my favorite bloggers.
She keeps it real, simple and sexy. What's not to love?
Anyway, this post talks about stepping out of your comfort zone
so you can be the best version of yourself.
It's an obvious concept but sometimes we just need a little reminder.

Favorite Thanksgiving Idea:
Kids always hate sitting at the kids' table. It's like a rule of life.
But this table would make any adult want to chill here!
I just love the idea of a fun kids table with games, crayons and crafts.

Favorite New Jewelry Obsession:

It's a shame this ring is out of stock because it is perfection.
It's unique, delicate and still edgy.

Hope you have a great and relaxing weekend!
